Exchange text & files between computers
A share key encrypts everything right in your browser. Anyone with the key can send and receive – the server only sees random IDs and ciphertext.
Frequently asked questions
How do I quickly move files or text from one computer to another?
Generate a share key, open the link on the other device or scan the QR code – done. Works in the browser on any device: Windows PC, Mac, Linux, Android and iPhone/iPad. No account, no USB stick, no e-mail attachment.
How secure is ShareLane?
Everything is encrypted with AES-256-GCM right in your browser; the server stores ciphertext only.
How long is my data stored?
At most 24 hours – with a visible countdown and instant manual deletion.
What does ShareLane cost?
Free: 20 MB per file, 100 MB per session. Premium: €4.99/year for 500 MB per file and 10 GB per session.
What happens with large files or a poor connection?
Files over 5 MB are automatically split into small encrypted parts and transferred several at a time. If the connection drops, only the affected part is retried – not the whole file – so large files upload and download reliably without starting over.
Can I send a file straight to another computer without storing it?
Yes. Every online device appears as a small computer icon below the status line – drag a file onto it (or use “Send file”) and it is transferred end-to-end encrypted, chunk by chunk, directly to that device and is never stored on the server. The receiver can auto-accept into a chosen folder (Chrome/Edge) or gets a save prompt. Both devices must be online at the same time.
